Siamo andati in montagna e abbiamo parlato con Ed Land di Chattooga Belle Farms per scoprire come fa il suo moonshine, e cos’è esattamente!
Durante la visita alla distilleria sul retro della Chattooga Belle Farm abbiamo chiesto al Sig. Land cosa rende esattamente il moonshine diverso da qualsiasi altro whisky o liquore.
La prima risposta che ha dato è stata breve e semplice: “La differenza tra il moonshine e la maggior parte dei liquori è quanto si paga al governo!”
Ora sappiamo che Ed paga la sua parte di tasse, quindi l’intera risposta è un po’ più approfondita.
Il moonshine sarà sempre crudo e non invecchiato, appena uscito dalla distilleria.
Il Moonshine avrà un alto contenuto alcolico; il Musca Shine di Ed arriva al 43% di alcol in volume.
I whiskey di bourbon e di segale sono solitamente invecchiati intorno ai 2 anni, lo ‘shine è sempre non invecchiato.
